Wildcats, run and push ups
Last night I stayed up to watch the UK Wildcats play at Mississippi State University. It was a pretty exciting game that went into overtime. For me, this meant I went to bed later than usual, but still wanted to get up and run in the morning because after work I will be partying up with my nephew who turns one year old today.
I managed to get out at 6:15 this morning and get 4 miles in. It was cold, probably about 30 or just under, but that just made get into a good pace quickly to warm up. I haven't done a pre-dawn run since before the marathon training. It wasn't easy to get out of the warm bed, especially since I'm not training for anything specific. My only motivation is a challenge / competition I am part of through Nike+. It is called the World Running League. I am on a team of other runners from various parts of the world and we compete against other teams. This is Week 1 and only runs on Wednesdays through Fridays count so I figured I'd get a little something started for the team.
After the run I had time to do another round of push ups for the 100 push up challenge. I decided to repeat what I did on Monday: Week 4, Day 2, Column 2.
| Set | The plan | What I did | Difference | Post Rest Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 20 | 20 | 0 | 1 min |
| 2 | 25 | 25 | 0 | 1 min |
| 3 | 20 | 20 | 0 | 1 min |
| 4 | 20 | 20 | 0 | 3 mins |
| 5 | 28 | 28 | 0 | |
| Total: | 113 | 113 | 0 |
Again, the last few on both sets four and five were difficult, but I managed the full sets, with only a slightly longer rest than recommended before the last set. I'm not sure yet what I'll try on Friday. Probably one more repeat for good measure and confidence boosting.

I attempted week 4 day 1 col. 3, and I was only able to complete 22 on the last set. The 1 minute rest was clearly not long enough. I think I'll continue with the rest of the week to see where I am and then repeat.
